Toby Morris’ work is informed both by his early work experience as a carpenter and his research in housing development, affordability, policy, and energy efficiency. Before co-founding Kerman Morris Architects in 1994, Toby worked for firms in San Francisco, Boston, and Portland, Maine, designing homes and multi-family housing, mixed-use projects, institutional facilities, and civic buildings. He has taught graduate courses in housing design and development at UC Berkeley, and has been published by the Institute of Urban and Regional Development (IURD) on topics about non-profit housing development production and specific working strategies of Bay Area Non-Profits. Toby has two decades of experience effectively escorting projects through San Francisco’s complex environmental, neighborhood planning and building permit approvals processes. He is a licensed architect in California.
